Visit to agricultural Institute for Hmong farmers

In our previous blog post, we talked about organising a bio-security briefing for Hmong farmers in Northern Queensland. We also helped the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry to organise a visit for Chinese, Vietnamese and Khmer farmers to a state agricultural institute. Through the learning of new farming technique, the Department also briefed the farmers about the risk of animal and plant diseases.

Below are photos from the visit.

Biosecurity briefing for Hmong farmers

Do you know that there are Hmong farmers in Northern Queensland? The Hmong are an Asian ethnic group from the mountainous regions of China, Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand. Multicultural Marketing and Management helped the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry to organise a bio-security education briefing for them.

Information in Korean for travelling workers

MMM helped the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry to distribute the "Vital information for travelling farm workers" booklet in English, French and Korean to farm organisations in Australia.

Last week we featured the brochure in French. Here is the poster in 3 languages.

Send us an email (info (at) multiculture.com.au) if your organisation wants copies of the poster. It is free, but we only have a limited number of copies available.

This material was developed to promote on-farm bio-security among itinerant workers who move between properties, essentially moving around the National Harvest Trail.

Bio-security is protecting the economy, environment and people’s health from pests, diseases and weeds. It includes trying to prevent new pests and diseases from arriving, and helping to control outbreaks when they do occur.
